Maybe you would like to put a bit of substrate and floating plants in the breeder box? I don't think they appreciate being in the open so high up in the water column. Anyway hope you find more survivors.

that's a cute number! try stuffing some moss into the breeding trap to calm the fry down... hope you'll be able to find his/her siblings! never underestimate an apisto fry's camouflaging abilities man...

will start feeding them decap brine shrimp..
meanwhile the current batch of fries should be free swimming by tomorrow.

    Re: EvolutionZ's Apistogramma trifasciata

hey there, very very nice fish!!
i have a pair of these wonderful fish as well and i think i found about 15 eggs under a cave in my main tank yesterday... i moved the cave and the female to its own seperate breeding tank today but the female doesnt seem to be paying attention to the cave anymore...
also, ive been reading up on the breeding of these fishes and they say that they spawn up to 100 eggs at a time.... :S

You shouldnt be moving or disturb the female & her eggs.
