    erm... to be more exact...

    Last year's tariff at year-end 31st December 2007 - 21.38 cents/kW
    Effective 1st Jan 2008 - 22.62 cents/kW

add increase from 1st April 2008 of 1.26 cents
    Effective 1st April 2008 - 23.88 cents/kW

So, the total increase since 31st December 2007 adds up to 11.69%

Heh, i've been thinking of ways to save money when it came to electricity bills. Here's a few interesting sites that might solve our problems:

What to do, they are always increasing without any control. We're gonna become just like Japan or even Switzerland, everything is gonna cost a bomb.

Shucks man, now I need to find a way to lessen my pump usage in my marine tank.

    @ XnSdvd,

I had similar thought about solar panels but more formy work and batteries.
Should be another good project to look into!
If they can do it for the parking lights why can't we get it to work for our hobby?

    @ BFG,
I thought guys with chillers and MH would be more affected.
    Why pump usage though?
Are your pumps the really large ones?

Same problem that I faced last time. Luckily, I switch crs to sakura shrimps . need not require chiller, save quite a lot in long run.

I think you also forgot to add in inflation into the mix and that GST just went up too. So the actual cost is alot higher.

Certain equipment for example the skimmer currently uses 2 pumps to operate. There are skimmer that uses 1 pump to operate but it need pressure rated pump for it to work. I've been made aware that there are new skimmer that uses a single pump to operate and doesn't need the power hungry pressure operated pump. The company producing these product are well aware of the environmental impact and are producing low consumption but powerful pump to cater for their consumer needs.
