Could it be nutrients lacking in the soilbed? Since there is no water to deliver nutrients to the plant. Just a wild guess.

don't think thats the problem... maybe its the HC getting use to the environment...

i got some die off and a little new growth for the 1st 2 weeks.. but once it established its root system should have less die off already...

    Evo,
I remembered you using 2x 9W for a HC setup? Can confirm ?
nope.. im using a 18watt single tube PL

anyway, i tried growing emersed HC b4.. it took about 2 - 3 weeks before it starts to creep at a super slow rate.

    Zoom,
Evo's has pretty good experience with HC, probably would want to wait 2-3 weeks. His observation is probably a "normal" rate of growth. If it doesnt melt, you are still fine.

Haha. I'm just curious. I went for this method as well and I now have a nice carpet of HC. So was thinking of flooding it soon.

There were a few who tried this way and found that the HC melted after flooding their tank. And there are those that were successful. So I just want to get some opinions and see what others did or did not after flooding their tank

Yes mine was slow too. It took me 3 months plus to see a carpet. But somehow they grew quite fast from the 2nd month onwards.

The first 2 months was painfully slow.

    zoom,
If you look carefully at the number of additional leaves each HC has made since 8 apr, its really close to 60% growth rate with only 16 days of progress. Well done.
