i'll share my tank specs for growing gu jings.
co2 : yes, i would say its a must.
ferts: yes, same as above. its a must.
substrate : soil like ADA or GeX is good enough, if not. lapis sand with base ferts or root tablets is great too.
Substrate thickness : 1inch minimun as gu jing's roots are very long.. for big gu jing species like eriocaulon 'gioas' i believe at least 2 - 3inch substrate thickness is needed.
lighting : my tank is having rougly 4wpg. 3wpg should do the job.
pH : rougly 6.5~ heard that pH above 7 will cause gu jing to melt.. not sure if its true anot.
last and for all.. based on my expierence, co2 should be on 24/7.
last time using the same specs.. but co2 is with solenoid(timer) due to on and off co2, my pH keep changing.. and gu jing was not growing and keep melting.
now im using manual regulator so my co2 is on 24/7. my 4 gu jings are growing fast and nice..
my 0.2cents worth =)
