Hi All, just want to share in the little surprise I got this morning!!
After the failure of their first brood, the pair is really quick getting in the groove again. I remembered what LSZ a few days ago, if they are breeding, throw them into a longkang and they will still breed. How true! But I did not throw them into a longkang though, I gave them a new enivronment and they got very comfortable, too comfortable in fact.
Interested in looking at the pair & their eggs, go to the url below.

BT i am happy for you.

Saw your convicts in your house that day.
    they are very loveable.

hope that the eggs hatch in 2 days time and you can have a cloud of frys

you need recommendation for fry food?
so far best i had used for smaller fish is JBL Nobil Fluid. It will be good if you can go pharmacy to get a syringe and connect an air tubing or something to the syringe and use it to direct the fluid food right into the fry cloud. But i think your tank is small enough, perhaps dont need to do that.

can prepare some brine shrimp too.
IF lecheh, can get frozen daphnia (hikari)
if not, can also use tetra bits grind into very fine powder. tetra bits is the best i used so far.

After the previous failure (all the eggs from the January brood were all eaten), my convict pair have given me a new convict family again. This time, the eggs are fully hatched and the fries have become free swimming. I have posted some pics in the link below:

    happy getting rid of frys!

Had given up all plans of breeding anything at all right now, big or small. Had plans for several species but all scraped already .
No more frys for me for a long time at least!

Things just happened naturally, I did not specially planned for the cichlids laying eggs, especially the LH. There were no sighs at all, or I wasn't experienced enough. For my LH, I only noticed that it was not moving around much, was not eating much either, and no obvious bulging of the stomach area, and all along, I had hoped that it would be a male, sigh... Nevertheless, I think the LH eggs will not be successful becos I think my male LH is still not sexually mature yet. Will know in a few days' time. What a wonderful start to my New Year!!

    Cheers.

Hi Mivec, my 'grandchildren' are doing pretty well. Haven't really counted but there must be hundreds of them, well protected by their parents.

Kelstrom, I was at Rainbow last weekend but did not see any convicts in the cichlids tank leh.

    Cheers.
