    Hi all,

May I know what medication should one use if there are white spot on Apistogramma fin, body etc?? What are causes for these white spots?? Poor water parameter?? Anything one should take note if this happens?? Must we raise the temperature of the tank or leave it as it is??

    Thanks.

    Regards

I use mostly Interpet medication series so far they work for me. But im sure most medication out there should as well. Just ensure optimised aeration of the water.

Lower water temperature usually triggers white spots. Stress is another factor.

I use Waterlife medication that is commonly found in most LFS and it's very effective.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Re: What medication can be used for treating white spots?

As discussed on an earlier thread: http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=51517 ...I myself recently got a bout of white spots on my checkerboards. As i was pretty busy with work, i totally skipped the medication and followed gene's advice on using a heater. Prepared with casualties,i was pleasantly surprised when all traces of white spot have disappeared. The norm for a heater treatment would be raising gradually from 28-30 degrees celcius...But due to my usage of PL lights and non fan environment,my tanks are usually between 28-30 degrees celcius. So what i did was raise mine to 32 degrees immediately and waited. White spots totally cleared by day 5 without usage of any white spot medication even though i eventually bought one 2 days ago! You could try this method if you're not a fan of medication as i am.

I dare not use medication as it once wiped out my whole population. I merely raise the temperature with a thermostat. The icks would naturally dry up and drop off like pimples...
