I think i've seen them before at Petmart although i haven't been there last couple of weeks. Maybe can try giving them a call. They can take orders for all kinds of plants but not sure about fishes.

polyart and biotope are 2 LFS that have pretty regular supply of these. i *think* i saw that biotope restocked their supply last Friday (i saw new boraras coming in, not sure if it's specifically brigittae)

I think there were fishes in the tank labelled Boraras brigittae at Biotope last night, but I can't confirm as I'm not familiar with the fishes. Yi Xiang you saw?

thanks bros. thought about it and decided to forget about getting b.brigittae since illumnae bro say they will most likely disappear into the 'dense forest'.

now im sort of attracted by the beauty of apisto but price tag seems to be scaring me away

Hi, perhaps you can pm us, what is your plan? There must be a way for the fish to reach your tank without the scares..

    Regards

Following my usual mentality,if you're afraid your fish will get lost...then buy more of them! b.brigittae looks absolutely stunning in groups of 20 or more.Their small size makes your tank look bigger in comparison as well! Can reconsider since C328 and polyart should carry it?

i've had fairly good success keeping boraras brigittae as dithers for my ap. bitaeniata. however, i suspect they were the cause of the death of my friend's ap. elizabethae due to choking when the apisto tried to eat the small fish

polyart usually keeps their b. brigittae at the very far corner tanks, the area where you find the shrimp. i think i saw some in stock on monday

Forget B. brigittae and go with tetras since you intend to have Apistogramma spp. in your tank. I think a South American theme or feel to your tank would be nice.

But boraras don't eat fry (at least mine didn't) and tetras do!

go with pencilfish perhaps? i found them to be fry safe too, and you can go with a south american theme

Only true if you want to breed them. I know of aquarists who let nature takes its own course, as afterall, this is what happens naturally in the original habitats, no?

Yes, could be an over simplification, but those who are seriously into breeding them would prefer to setup a smaller tank just for the Apistogramma spp. alone.

Anyway, I digress and we'll just agree to disagree, because it all boils down to what the thread starter wishes to achieve.

good point there quixotic. actually i dont really bother about breeding them, more about keeping them and observing them.

my 3ft tank already has 28 white cloud mountain minnow so maybe adding another pair of apistogramma will be perfect.

thanks bros for all your replies.

    Aquanatix,
I was at colorful today but i didnt see any of them, ive search the big tank and could find only boraras urophthalmoides. The small bundle bags where richard keep his shrimps in his lower tank; right under his mosura food also dont have. All of them were boraras uro. I am puzzled where you saw them, is it hidden in one of the bags ?

First pic by the way boraras brigittae , 2nd pic then is Boraras Urophthalmoides. They are differentiated by the tail marks. Uro= exclaimation mark ! on the sides while brigittae is like a wedge spot on the tail.

I'm guess why nobody can find it is because they're hidden in the mini tanks just in front of the rack selling Eheim spares! Somehow nobody seems to visit those tanks?I'm the only one who inspects them regularly due to the fact that their pygmy corys are always there and always housed with the boraras brigittae? Small little tanks supported by nails and attached to the rack in between 2tanks.Only supported by a small sponge filter or air tubing. If this still doesn't give you any clear indication, just hunt for ALL THE TANKS on the right of the cashier where all the aros and goldfish in FGTs are!!!
I was there last Friday and found them in bags of 10 in the huge planted tank over at colourful? They had only 2 or 3 bags of them. Anyway doubt i was cock eyed enough under such bright lightings? Anyway,do check out C328 again...They're kept together with corydoras hasbrosus!
