    as above. intend to transfer the GAEs to another tank but i cant seem to catch them given that my tank is full of plants...

    Golden Algae Eaters are commonly referring to algae eating cyprinids, not catfish, unless you are confusing the common name.

    Here is past thread about catching Siamese Algae Eaters, but they should be applicable to Golden Algae Eaters as well.

    I was wondering if it was a new species of catfish!

    You can try a 1.5L plastic bottle with a string tied top.
    Put some of their favourite food inside.
    Once they are in pull the string to bring the bottle up.
    Being patient pay for this method.

    i used this method before and it worked. BUT it only works once; the GAE wised up after getting trapped once and never entered another bottle again!

    i placed algae wafers, bloodworms and even my betta pellets. but only 1 went in!!!
