Is the peat moss contained inside a cloth-like wrap? so you placed the peat moss for your first level filtration, having biohomme as da second stage?
Formally known as EpiCentre in AQ
i keep my peat in a fine mesh drawstring filter bag. i use it as the last stage in my filter as the purpose of my putting it in is to lower the ph and add tannins to make my fish more comfortable. it's not a mode of filtration and thus i let the water get filtered before passing it through the peat
so you placed 1 packet of biohomme for the first layer? any filters u using?

eden is split into half. the first stage of filtration is the large sponge that takes up half of the compartment. second stage is the biohome a the bottom of the other half and i placed the peat on top of the biohome, just before the outflow
Thought peat moss is used for their ph lowering capabilities rather than filtration and the net provided is to prevent them from floating away?

that's exactly what i said in #4![]()
so for Eden502 filter material, wat is recommended?

i find da filter wool that comes with Eden is rather coarse...i'll switch to the finer ones

the coarse filter wool that comes with eden is an effective pre-filter to trap larger particles. as pointed out by someone in another thread, the recommended filtration stages would be:
1. ceramic rings to trap the largest particles
2. coarse sponge to trap medium particles
3. biomedia
4. fine sponge to polish the water and trap the finest particles
the default media that comes with eden are stages 2 and 3. if you want really fine sponge, put it at the last stage - the position would be on top of the biomedia in the half of the canister not occupied by the provided sponge. for the first stage of filtration, my opinion is that the inlet cage of the filter serves to keep away the large particles anyway, so it can be skipped.
do take note that if you put fine sponge, the flow rate of the eden will be noticeably lessened. you have to balance the need for flow with your desire for fine sponge and make the judgment call. personally, i find my water clear enough such that i don't need the fine sponge
