    Here are some first shots of my T. candidis. Still in fright colouration so rather dull looking. I'm suspecting the female might be a sneaker, but I'm not 100% sure about it. Shots 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 are the "female", anyone can tell if it's a sneaker?

    They're still shy and hiding alot, so I can't get very nice shots...the alpha male does flare and colour up nicely, but any movement outside of the tank and he darts away, so I can't get good shots as yet.

    Just a preview:

    Yixiang;

    Give a clear side profile of the suspected "male". From there, it's easier to tell

    The dark ventrals and rounded caudal fin is telling me its a female. Males at this size should have developed a lanceolate tail.

    Yup Eugene;
    From the first look, it do appear to me as a female..But certain shot gives me the doubts...I kind of spotted a lanceolate tail...So a clear side profile will says it all...

    I think it could be a sneaker. 3,4 and 6 shows some sign of the tail starting to grow lanceolate. But I don't know whether I'm right.

    Nevertheless its a nice catch. Congrats on a nice acquisition Yi Xiang.

    thanks for the sex ids i'll try and get a clear side profile shot once these guys have settled in and are less skittish. one thing interesting about t. candidis is that you can't really sex them by tail colour like with apistos, since both male and female have colourful tails! the dominant male in my pair does have darker colouration and a deep red when flaring though, which is something not really shown in the female/sneaker. nonetheless, i'll try to get a better picture asap

    Some more "female" pics:

    not a very good pic of the male, but you can see his tail colours nicely while he's flaring at the "female":

    The male has taken up territory at the back of the tank, hence it's hard to get pictures of him and easier to get pictures of the "female" as she lurks in the front. every now and then, the male will flare very beautifully at the female, but he usually darts very soon after flaring, so i can't get good shots yet

    Jervis,

    FYI... T. candidi isn't an Apistogramma sp., though they are dwarf cichlids alright.

    i guess noone knows my fiancee took some nice pics over the weekend i'll try and post them soon. the male has developed a very nice lance tail, and the female/sneaker male has shown no development at all. given that there has been no violent aggression between the 2, and some possible signs of courtship, i'm hoping that i did get a pair after all! after 1.5 weeks of nls, i must say their colours are developing very well!

    pics incoming soon
