Decided to put to use some tips that I picked up from the Photo Workshop that AQ conducted weeks ago - and also after much persuasion from some folks here.... so here's a teaser shot..

    Wild male fish from K2.

    Thanks guys.
Fish didn't want to coorperate for a full flaring mood tonight..so here's one in semi-aggressive mood.

    Apologies for the not-so-sharp face.

Oh ya. Now I remember. Thanks.

Any idea does Apistogramma rotkeil or A. uaupesi of other locality, shows signs of red cheeks? Because I remember only seeing Ap.sp.blutkehl with red cheeks.

    Breitbinden also have red cheeks.

These are the blood throat type if I am not wrong in my limited knowledge.

But there's a difference between blood throat and red cheeks right? Blood throat is like Yorky's rotkeil while red cheeks is like A. elizabethae. So just wondering are there any rotkeils or uaupesis with red cheeks or they're only spotted with blood throat.

Errr...all these are just trade names. They are but just Apistogramma sp "rotkeil", uaupesi or blutkehl actually. These species have a wide range of colour morphs and hence, not limited to locality and also the reason for many trade names for them.

Yokeseng, your pictures are improving. But try to get the fish as parallel as possible and focus on their eyes when you shoot. You will get a clearer picture from head to tail this way!

Simon, definitely agree with you. Yorky should have paid a premium for it.

    Cheers

Any idea why they name it "Monte Cristo", after an island in Italy?
