    Hi Guys

Can anybody tell me how to see the difference between the two or are they really the same?

From what i heard was that Altum is caught from the wild while Angel are bred in captivity.

Altum and Angel (Scalare) are different species. If you look carefully, you will find that the body shape of these 2 species are quite different. IMHO, Altum looks better in term of body shape but lack the varities of colour found in angel hybrids. But overall, altum fares better.

    just my 2 cents,

I have moved the topic to Fishkeeping.

Altum is a type of angel fish. There are several types of angelfish, the 3 types that I know are Pterophyllum altum, Pterophyllum leopoldi and Pterophyllum scalare.

Pterophyllum scalare are the angel fish that are commonly found in the LFS.

most Pterophyllum comes from the wild, scalare are easier to bred in captivity while only a hand full has successful bred altums

imo, P.scalare are easier to care for, cheaper and widely available

I have seen some nice scalare but nothing beats an altum when it comes to beauty and deadly

is there a reason why heinsberg is not listed in the LFS list or is it under another name?

they used to be one of the better planted LFS around until they concentrate more on LHs...

the aunty seems quite a pro too but not the friendly sort...

The taiwanese shop at Serangoon North is not called Heisenberg but rather Heisenbel. Sorry for the mix up. Please refer to the LFS list
