    yeah looks like a layer of oil ....is there a surface skimmer short enough for a 12cm tall tank ?

    One unconventional way is using kitchen tissue, let it float on the surface and it will absorb the oily film. you can use newspaper also, it will not harm the flora or fauna.

    I use kitchen towerl as well, as i just damp the water surface and scope them up with very fine mesh net.

    any idea whats causing the oil film ? i keep cherries and a couple of CRS in the tank
