    Hi Folks,

Saw a rack full of those vase type containers with orangy-red fish and a cutting of hornwort in there. They are active and pretty fish. But I'm not sure what type of fish is that and if they have the same breathing appatus as betta and gourami. Looks like killifish to me but i could be wrong. Costs $12 each at Pet Safari.

Any idea where else can i find this fish, at what price and if they are suitable in a community tank ?

    Thks.

killifish they are. But saw most of the nice looking one tagged with a [SOLD] on the bottle. I think they have a few in the 3ft tank just opposite.

Some have quite short life span (a year). If you want a bit more varieties, maybe can ask timebomb?

    Yup...those are killiefishes....

the orange red ones are Amphysemion Australe, better known as Lyretail Killiefish. Life span of about 3 yrs and is commonly kept alone or a pair of male and female... males will fight each other, but not as fierce as a fighting fish.

The rest are annual species, some only last a season...

Annuals....Only 6-8 months unless you can provide them with a water temp of 15-18C, DAM good water quality and live food always which will last them to 2 years

Actually, bettas might have longer life. My mom still has 1 of my bettas from my 2nd spawn and it's close to 2 yrs old! It's still alive and kicking.

Sad to say, none of my bettas at my house are that old... []
