    Hi all,

I am getting quite sick of all my cheapo made in China PL lightsets dying on me after a few months. Can anyone introduce me to a more reliable (and at the same time nice looking) brand/model of 1ft lightsets?

I would prefer those that are supported over the tank than the clip on varieties.

    Thanks

Dymax 13W lightset is good. it's available at NA and Seaview for sure, not sure where else. i find it looks sleek (at least the black one does to me)

AQ forums has alot of people who had used china made PL lights and the general advise were to stay away from them

I am waiting for GEX curalight 15w, just saw the product newly listed on their website, hopefully it finds its way onto our shores so i can use it with my genoah

I have gone to KS today and they showed me a aluminium finished 1FT PL lights 11w, its adjustable to any length of the tank as long as it doesnt exceeds 30cm. The 2 mounting stands secures nicely on the back of the tank and has 3 adjustable joints, talk about customised . Quite tempted to buy as it less than $30, but Im waiting for the gex new 15W lights to go with my genoah.

OceanFree has a 18W 1 feet lighting set (2 x 9W PL). I feel that this is more robust than Dymax. No big adapter like Dymax models.

Thats the thing, they dont have 1 tube of 18w for nano tanks, mostly its split 9w x2 . I am currently waiting for curalight, the GEX series hand on lights 15w to replace my 12w for the genoah series tanks.

i'm using an 18W set over my 1ft cube. however, the actual length of the lightset is 36cm, so i have 6 cm sticking out slightly. overall, it doesn't look bad though. this set is available from NA.

i suspect no single tube 18w lightset is available for tanks 1ft and below because the length of the PL light + the space needed for the ballast is probably > 30cm

ya, thats why small tank are niche, very difficult to find perfect stuff unless you want to fork out 450 for the ada solaris.

Used to have the Dymax one from NA. Cheap and good. Find the design appealing too.

I am using a brand called Odyssea illummax PL 24x1 Compact PL on my 1 feet low tank. So far no problem with it but most likely made in China though it was not indicated anywhere on the packaging. Got it from colourful at $35.

NA has a display on the dymax, looks slick, but the latch on are abit too big for my liking.

Savant, there is another thread on Haiyang lights for 1FT, i believe i may have come across them during my visit to seragoon petmart/rainbow, its on display on their tanks. Might want to give them a call first, if you are heading down.
