Is it ok to get used soil? I am planning to start planted tank so does used soil work as good as new ones?

Yes, ADA soil is used for planted setup. You can try Amazonia Aqua Soil, as it is rich in organic acid and nutrients, promoting the growth of aquatic plant roots. Get new ones if possible.

    Hi,
i supposed 2nd hand soil still works ok, depending on their condition... if they look still ok instead of broken down into smaller grain sizes... then you may continue to use it.. however do add another layer of dry ferts under the ADA layer to boot the nutrient level. Alternatively, you can consider adding root monsters for more convenience sake.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

Can be reused but check the condition thoroughly. Make sure its all pellets and not glued or stuck to one another. The end result of ADA soil is mud like whereby it kindda stuck together.

How big is your tank? If small, you won't be saving much in getting used soil.

    Hi Navy,
It is all right to get used ADA soil if you are under budget constraints.

However, we would strongly suggest that in a new tank condition, it is necessary to ensure that you have a bacteria rich substrate as well so that you can get your tank cycled fast. This can be done by introducing Bacter 100, Clear Super and Tourmaline BC under your soil. Given your two feet tank, you do not need to buy the entire bottle, instead you can approach our showroom currently to get them in loose forms.

In addition, we would strongly suggest you purchase a new 3L pack of the same soil and lay it above the old soil. The rationale of doing this is to prevent any loose particles of the soil from being staying in suspension in your water column. And it will take a relative period of time to clear it based on our experiences.

To know more, you can give us a call at the numbers below.

    Cheers!
