Give them a few days. They need to be trained to take beefheart.
Hi People,
I started to feed bloodworm to my wild discus since i got them but decided to try feeding beefheart with spirulina bought from C328. However they didnt even take a bite. End up, it was my apisto, cory and tetras eating them. Why? I thought they love beefheart?
Anyone can recommend what other food to feed them besides frozen bloodworm? They also dont take commerical discus food, like tetrabits etc...guess probably they from the wild thats why...TKS for reading.![]()

Give them a few days. They need to be trained to take beefheart.
It will take a while for them to acclimatised.
Ask the lfs where you buy them from what they were feeding them.
How long have you had them?
Feed them blood worm first then slowly introduce beefheart.
Discus are fussy and messy eaters, beefheart will quickly foul
up the water.![]()

i bought them from WU Hu and clementi....about 4mths old in the tank already. they feed them bloodworms only....
So how do i acclimatised them to beefheart?

i don't have wild discus, but one batch of my domestic discus would only eat bloodworms and would rather starve for a week than eat beefheart. so what i did was to defrost the bloodworms and beefheart, mix them well before freezing again then throw it into the tank. in eating the bloodworms, the discus can't help but eat the beefheart stuck to the worms. after a few days of this, they would eat beefheart without any bloodworms.
do take note that there are certain risks involved in this as defrosting and refreezing runs the risk of introducing bacteria into the food
