Hi everyone! Need some help on my chiller issues.

I have a 2nd hand Resun CL-280. Due to ignorance I was using it for my 4 x 1.5 x 1.5 tank for almost 6 months. Noticed the motor kicks in like every 10mins though it did managed to keep my tank cool at 25C. However the cooling effect diminish over times until I realised I was stressing the chiller, I disconnected it right away.

Just setup my 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 tank over the weekend. Intended to use it for shrimp only. When I connect the chiller to my Eheim 2224, I noticed that the motor is running but there are no warm air coming out from the rear. The temp did not drop a single bit after 45mins.

What could be the problem of my chiller? Motor kaput? If repair anyone knows roughly how much?

Thanks for reading my long questions.

    Cheers!

Is the chiller transferred to the new tank immediately or left idle for a long period of time?

Hi Torque6, its been left idle for abt 1yr. What could be the possible reasons if there are no warm air coming out from the rear? I touched the chiller and it seems to me that the motor is running as there are some slight vibration.

Your chiller is spoilt bro. Have it send to Bioplast or call Derek (9025 5562) whom will come to your place to service but I'm not too sure whether he does Resun chillers.

If the chiller is warm, hopefully its only the fan that went dead. If not.... be prepared to dig deeper into your pocket.

Remember, ask bioplast for the charges before deciding on the repairs, there is alot of 2nd chillers you can grab for 50% of the retail price at our BS marketplace.

    Hi noblespirit, fan is turning.

Hi Larlee, gas maybe out but I figure it may be cheaper to get another new chiller as I suspect mine is kapou as I was running it for my 4ft for abt 6 months.

You can go for a refill which is very cheap and then use it for your 2ft tank. No point wasting $300 for another similar chiller and let this be a white elephant.

Hi Larlee bro, thanks for the pointer. I think I go check out and compare the price between the 2 then make decision from there.

    Cheers!
