Raymond,
Sorry to disappoint you.
But if I am not wrong, both are almost 99.9% male.

First one is confrimed a male. 2nd picture could be a female, there are females with more red in the body colour.

I'd say both male...![]()
1st picture - forehead curve like a semi circle, red only pass chest - female
2nd pictue - forehead curve with staircase step, red extend beyond half body - male that had not became dominant.
yes agree with scope and he explain to me this before. i spotted the same head structure in my pair of normal viejita. Posted for everyone to have a discussion. will be keeping the pair, as see how does it goes in the next few weeks. As scope mention to me before, a quality batch of apisto fry, is affected by the colouration of the pair. if the parent pair is very high quality in colouration, the subsequent spawn will be of similar quality.
Keep your suggestion and opinion coming in, as i think this will help all potential apisto keeper to take note.
another point to add into scope observation for the female, when he discuss with me, notice the first picture, where the viejita have a yellow belly, which is distinct of a female.
Cheers
