Mosses are known as slow growers but 2 cm in month is too low growth rate even for them. They also like to be fertilized. From my experience with mosses I know that they like both Micro and Macro fertilizer. So maybe you should try to add a bit of fertilizer, it should help them.

Moss tends to grow better in colder temperature. Get a small chiller like CL-280. Colder temperature is good for your shrimps too especially if you wish to bred them.

Go easy with fertilizer especially with CRS. This is what I gather from another thread discussion as I am planning for a CRS tank.

    Hi,
it helps to add a $10 fan to lower the tank temperature.. i'm sure your shrimps will appreciate that!

You can also get a Dymax stick-on-thermometer for around $2 to stick on your tank to know the tank temperature.

Btw, all plants need some fertiliser..especially for moss which do not root into the substrate for nutrients. Liquid fertilisers work wonders for moss! Anyway for java moss, as they are the less demanding moss, small quantities of ferts can be added to promote growth.

    Cheers!

Moss thrive in lower temperature. Fert would help too.

A fan is not difficult to install.. just plug and play. These aquatic fans should be available widely in LFS.. most comes will tank clips and such for you to position on your tank.. so should not be a problem at all.

Do choose the types where you can manually clean the fan blades during maintenence.

    Cheers!

moss dont really grow that slowly, 2cm is too slow a growth, i had my taiwan moss grew relatively well in a low light, no co2 tank.

    Oh gosh,
i feel for your loss of a CRS. There was mention about using DIY CO2 in your CRS moss tank right? As DIY CO2 mixture is organic, thus the output of CO2 will not be constant and tends to fluctuate over time... the swing in PH from new DIY mixture to exhausted DIY mixture can be great and might greatly destressed your CRS.

Just something that came across my mind.. hope your flora and fauna will do well..

    Cheers!

my neons cherries and otto have already got used to it
hopefully my CRS can be the same too

    thanks
