what brand?? for other brand i don't know...
but for teco you just have to back flush it, use a vaccum to vaccum away the dust and wash the mesh at the front will do.... this is what the chiller maintenance guy told me...

Are you looking at a regular wash or a one time off ? If the later, you can check with bioplast, have read in some articles here in AQ that they offer this type of service.

Sometimes I look at the pipes of the cannister filter..It is pretty dirty so I wonder whether it is better to wash it.
Fix a time frame and sent is periodically for cleaning/servicing. Will extend the durability of your chiller.
