    hairy stuff with small branch-out leaves on java fern

    Hi,

    Anyone know what is this? it grow out form the leaves sometime after i planted the java ferns. anyway to get rid of it or what is the cause of this? because it look kind of ugly.. :P

    This is usually how Java Ferns propagates in water. If you feel that it's unsightly, you can trim off the black roots and remove the plantlets.

    what will happen if you leave it grow? will the plant grow tall? and also, if you cut the roots and the plantlet, will it affect the parent leaves?

    The parent leaves will eventually turn brown, you can remove the plantlets by hand when they grew bigger.

    The plantlets will eventually mature into parent plants and the cycle will continue.

    Those hairy stuff as i have read are sexual organs of the plants, it grows from the black spots if you observe closely.
