Something else bothering me. I realised the more powerful the fan is, the higher the rate of evaporation?

Thus, cooler water but higher noise level

    hi,

i'm using ANS 3000 but unfortunately it only bring down my temp to about 27C. i'm also looking into getting a more powerful one so that it can at least bring it down further to maybe 25C. anyone has experience in that?

Commercially bought fans for the 1.5ft and 2ft, DIY PC fans for smaller tanks.
    ...I love rubies too ...

My experience with fan is in Singapore weather really difficult to cool to 25 degree using fan unless your place is extermely windy all year round. To get 25 degree chiller is the only way. Unless someone here prove me wrong I would gladly adopt the method because I am also trying to get 25 degree without using chiller.

It's not very likely to happen during the hotter months in Singapore. Even if you are staying on a high floor with ample ventilation, you can only achieve so much with aquarium fans.

For a regular planted tank, good results can be achieved even if your tank temperature hovers around 28 dgrees C.

There is really not much you can achieve with a lower temperature unless you are into certain cold water plants or into breeding of certain livestock (like shrimps). In these cases, a chiller will be the better choice.

Mizuworld, thanks for posting finally have your contact, i didnt know you were a distributor for ANS stuff.

    Sragor,
I used these. Its DIYed with my old pc fans, coolermaster and thermaltake. Cost around 20+ including the AC adaptor. Tank temp stays around 27 degrees and 26 at night. Both fans are quiet and operates at only 12db. My filter motor is noiser

    torque:
    Nice DIY fans you have.

In the end, I used PC fan over my tank. Last night, I forgot to turn off the fan when I on my air-conditioner, only to realize that the temperature actually hit low 20+. But other than that, I guess the fan can bring down 1-2 degree Celsius at most, which I thought should be sufficient enough since I am not prepared to spend a lot on a chiller at the moment. Speaking of which, how much would a decent one cost for a 1.5ft tank?

1.5FT can go to either the resun/hailea type, the more expensive are the nano artica and teco. You are in the mid range tank and chillers with 1/20hp should suffice.
