I'm thinking of removing my elatine foreground altogether and propogate with E.Q. instead.

any minus points? my problems with elatine is that once you prune them , they look like sh!t, and old leaves yellow and you hvae to remove a small turf that needs to be filled in...

or maybe a blyxa or eriocaulon cinereum foreground..heh..

don't like glosso,hairgrass,dwarf sag,marsilea so I think I run out of plants to pick as foreground..

E. quad gets very big for a foreground plant, I had some growing almost 8&quot;, they are very easy and r fast growers... IMO, the leave is too broad, I prefer the narrower E. spec.. almost the same characteristic, except of the leave size

The foreground in the center of the tank below is E. quad. It's almost overwhelmed my Crypts forcing them to grow taller.

I think I'll go try some Lilaeopsis (and see if they they from algae attacks..hmm)

Has what? C. parva or E. quad? I know he has E. quad. Got something from his farm which could be C. parva or lucens.

I'll take a pic of it this weekend. It's also called E.beans. If you can find a tropica dealer locally, you can most likely get it.

Yeah, my vals are really getting on my nerves. That's supposed to be Val americana (natans) unless i'm wrong. Suppose to be able to achieve 50 to 100 cm height according to Tropica. Mine are a little taller then a foot I think. Chan told me they spread slower.

You'll need a lot.......... lot of Lileopsis to have a good looking foreground. They take ages to grow. You'll may change the foreground before the Lileopsis fills it in

. The waiting is frustrating and so is the algae.
Secondly I have only had some measure of success with Lileopsis planted in a fine grained substrate ( about 1-1.5mm) with some jobes pushed in.
You may be able to control algae by trimming the leaves to about 1/2 inch above the substrate when you plant them. They take a while to get acclimatised to your water and as they are light demanding algae does proliferate initially.
