    Hi catfish,

I think you can find a good number of Dario Dario at Polyart in Clementi. Not too sure if C328 carries them.

Spotted females awhile ago at Mainland aquarium over at Pasir Ris Farmway...they were distinctively paler and looks roundish? They have a whole tankful of badis,in the middle racks nearest to the entrance..do take a look and try your luck there!

Thank you sragor,Quixotic and aquanatix for your imput and information. I went to Polyart today and got 10 more Dario Dario and I think one of them is a female. It is the only one that is much paler, (almost no bands and color). The dealer in Polyart thinks it a female too.

I have just set-up a 1.5ft tank with lots of Java fern and Taiwan moss and hopefully they will all survive and start breeding. Now I think I have to go out and buy live tubeflex every other day for them !

Will update the results of this set up in a month's time.

Once again thanks all for your great help !

Do be aware that juvenile, or non-alpha male D. dario can be pale in colouration too, especially in a small tank overloaded with these fish.

i think if it's merely paler but still showing stripes, it may be a juvenile or non-alpha male. safe bets for females are usually very white with no/VERY faint stripes.

disclaimer: this is just from my lurking on other forums and seeing pictures of those who have bred dario dario...i can't accurately sex them. I've seen a couple suspected females at various Polyart batches, though they are usually severely outnumbered by the males

You are right the female should be much paler almost white with very vague stripes. I managed to find only one in the lot in Polyart today although I got also a few paler ones but think they are juvenile males. Will keep the forum updated on the outcome of the female I got. Hope she can survive to maturity and breed
