Spotted this beauty at C328. Very very nice! Love the body shape and the pale blue spots on the body of the fish.

I did some reading up on Cat-E-Log. Seems to be quite well tempered and eats a variety of foods, which is good for a community tank.

Note that it has not bred in captivity. Can this be so, or is it outdated info? I'm sure the skilled bros here would have performed some magic?

It's one of my favorite pleco. The small ones are really cute.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

There have been a couple of breeding reported in some other forums, but I have not seen any real evidence (read: good photos) or substantial information on the process.

So this would be a good project if you intend to take it up!

I am focusing on my L46 project now, where "guidebooks" are abound...

But am definitely interested in this number. Wonder if I should just grab a number of them for my 4 ft tank and wait for them to grow out (and possibly move them into a species tank when they are large enough). Anyone know if they are compatible with L183 and Common Bristlenoses?

Oh and while I am at it, will they be compatible with Gold Nuggets too?

They should be okay in such a community setup, they are omnivorous as are the bristlenoses and golden nuggets. However, as with most plecos, they can be territorial with each other, so provide enough hiding places for them.

Note from my current failure to get L183s that if I want any fishes I should always buy at least 6...

    That's the ticket!
If you want to breed numbers really help.

On the point of buying fishes overseas, I am still not sure what the regulations are. I had them taken away from me once in bangkok by non english thai custom officers. Better luck when returning from shanghai (in plastic 1.5 litre bottles that were checked in), and witnessed custom officers taking away a bag of lohan from a guy bringing them in from malaysia (at the border)
