You probably have more than what you need. Base fert mixed with equal amount of gravel should at max. fill up 2 cm thick for your 2 footer. Fill up another 2-3" of gravel on top to seal the fert.
its a 4 footer and i have about 12 kg of base fert and 40 kg or gravel...
i don't understand how base fert is calculated by liters...

i think 4 should be correct...
i use 10 kg for a 2 feet tank and the 4 feet tanks surface area is like 4 times a 2 feet tank...

so how much more do i get? my dad thinks i've spent too much on base fert already and says "haiya TRY FIRST lah"...

2 tubs of sera 24.50 each and 1 tub hexa $20 a tub...

well, you know base fert cannot "try first lah". Sounds like JBL still the cheapest at $16 for 5 litres.
Maybe you can check with Juggler about using cocopeat. Mux the cocopeat with your base fert to make up the volume lah. You need close to 30 litres which means should be 35kg. You can get those coke bottle (1.5 litres), fill it up and weigh it and see how much 1.5 litres weigh.
ps: cut off the top of the bottle for easier filling and emptying

Since you have excess gravel, you can also mix part of it with the base fert to make up volume. Leave enough to for the top layer of just gravel.
I haven't tried this before, but I've seen it mentioned.

Hi all, I am new to this planted tank trade, and i dun even have a planted tank yet, though i intend to get 1. i tink wat Vinz said is right. I attended the recent workshop on planted tank host by arowanaclub and Pet Safari, Joey Chua also did suggest to us tat trying mixing a certain portion of Base fert with gravel, during his Live Demo on plant tank (150 liter tank). But the exact ratio in term of proportion, i am not too sure. I see him do also "Argar Argar" one, and if i am not wrong, visually its seems to me in the ratio of 1kg Gravel : 7Kg Base fert. He lay them in a slight graident manner to the hight of ard 1.5- 2 inch, b4 further adding in the remaining gravel. Hmmm, i jus recntly found out this http://www.dennerle.de/ENGLISCH/e_frameset.htm allow me to calculate how much gravel will i need for my tank in terms of height and weight.
