Hey guys, read somewhere on the net a couple of days ago that placing the CO2 diffuser under the filter inlet in a way that results in the CO2 bubbles being sucked into the canister filter is a good way of distributing CO2 around the tank... has anyone tried it? The theory seems sound, and i've been trying it out for the past week or so, but don't seem to notice any improvement..

    Comments, anyone?

Place it in the path of good current such that they can get well mixed into the plant beds. That is where you want the CO2 rich water to go.

    might cause air lock?

I still prefered reactor. Try misting before but does not see any different in plant grow compare to reactor. Misting also need strongger filter flow. Try it with Eden 501 in 1.5ftx1x1 tank and the buble raise to air before reach the other part of the tank.

    Soup,
believe you read from my posts. Best is to place the diffusor on top of a powerhead or the outlet so the current is able to carry the bubbles to the rest of the tank, i adopted the "close to inlet" approach as i had moss growing as a backdrop so placing the diffusor there is abit funny.

I have very fine bubbles at 0.5bps with drop indicator green most of the time, so no burping of the filter as well.

    Thanks guys for the comments...

hmm.. looks like i'm gonna have to change the location of the diffuser then

So the important thing is having the bubbles get blown around? i had thought that having the bubbles sucked into the filter would greatly increase the amount of time the co2 bubbles spend suspending in the water stream, allowing more co2 to diffuse into the water?

With respect to air lock... it doesn't happen every 15 minutes or so the bubbles get bubbled out of the rainbar.

I tried both method . Current I have no diffuser too . The Co2 is injected directly into the outlet of the submerged filter generating very fine bubbles . It works fine.
As for injecting into canister filter , its works well too . The build up CO2 will be expelled every 15-30 secs with a soft gurgling sound.

Yes, the important thing is co2 well distributed to all areas of your tank.
