Hi, anyone owns NISSO tank R313EX? Trying to change the lighting (dim 66W) but have big problem with the hood.
    - Don't know how to unhinge the hood, thus cannot work on the hood off the tank. Otherwise, might be able to bring down to NA.
    - The light are mounted on a white metal sheet and it is kinda fastened to the underside of the hood with metal rivet? The metal rivet might be fastening the lamp unit and not to the hood, not sure because i cant seem to unscrew anything from the metal sheet.

    More pictures of the hood

Here's a full view of the light and the metal sheet.

To remove rivet, the only way is to drill throught it. Got to take note of the depth otherwise you will drill through the hood as well. What is the size of your tank & what is your ideal wattage you want?
Also, the hinges attaching your hood seems to be secured by C clip(pic quite blur). To remove, you need C clip opener. Can get from DIY shop.

Lorba, that clip is called a e-clip. U need a pointed plier but it must work at a reverse way. Meaning if u grip the plier, it will open up instead of the normal plier which when u grip , it closes. DO NOT DRILL!!!

Wait, I just remembered! U can use a very small flat head screwdriver 2 pry the clip out. Just remembered coz I have been using this clip on my RC car. On the e-clip there are 2 spaces where a small flat head screwdriver might fit. There u could pry the clip out by turning the screwdriver. The clip might fly out so be careful!
