You should check the roots area of your plants. If those parts are not doing well, then it's unlikely that the plants will recover.

hey, i was restarting my 29 gallon and i decided to bleach some of the plants that i had since they had some algae and snails in them. So i mixed the 5% bleach solution and did a 2 minute dip. everything looked great during planting
but 2 days later, my anacharis (elodia) and my vallisneria spiralis all seemed translucent and completely dead.
im not sure what to do. has anyone had experience of having the plants grow back in? or are they 100% completely dead?
I wana give them a week before i take them out to see if there is a remote chance that they might grow back, but i'm also scared it might add to the ammonia and now that i'm cycling my tank, that wouldn't be a good idea.
suggestions?

should of never use the bleach, for the snails, just dip the plant in cold water then room temp water, and repeat process for a couple of more time's. then for the algae problem just take the leave's with algae off, the plants will recover and look the same in acouple of weeks.

ruler,
When you mentioned restarting 29 gallon, how "neglected" was your tank?
kipper,
I used bleach solution to get rid of algae/snails when i buy from LFS, soak them in for 2mins, rinse and resoak in dechlorinated water for a day before putting them in the main tank.
