    Hi,

I have a 2 ft 24w x2 and another 2 ft 14w x2 T5 lighting set. Just wondering if the T5 tube is switchable.. because it seems to me that the length of the tube is same(if I am not wrong)... I thought of making it to two set of 14w+24w light. Can it be done? Do I have to change the ballast in any case?

    Thanks for all advise.

    nope.
the original 14w light set will not be able to power up a 24w tube.

    Jack,

Lower voltage ballast can/maybe powered up higher wattage, but lights should be dimmer or as tawau highlighted may not be able to powerup.
if its the other way round.
Higher voltage ballast -> lower wattage lights , it will blow the lights.

may be able to power up but with side effects.
if things go well, the 14w light tube will light up much brighter but life span is shorter.
if things doesn't go well, the light tube will stop working after a while.

okay.. In that case I better change the ballast to a 14w before changing the tube.. Anyone knows where to get just the ballast alone? The light set I got from NA and its those long ballast grab in black insulation type..

PS> funny, I pour this question to the guy in NA(whether can change to 14w tube on the 2x24w light set I bought from him) and he told me "should be" okay... I thought a lot of guys here say he's expert in modifying and repairing lights but he is giving me a not-so-certain answer. That why I have doubt and have to ask you guys here..
