    how long can i keep the opened GEX light green substrate?
    i still have app 1/2 packet left, will only use it after my current substrate expire, which is app 2 years time

    I keep my ADA for about 2 years, still can be use, but need to keep it moisture otherwise it will crumble. Not sure if I answered your question.

    how do you keep it moist?
    i thought should be air tight in order to preserve it?

    nah... just re-used the plastic bag, pour little bit of water and tied it using rubber band I jeck once a while maybe once a month if not lazy , just to make sure that moisture still there.

    so that it is not crack/crumble. Originally I keep it moist because that the way when I bough it . After some reading it is necessary to keep it moist to prefent it from crumble.

    I just keep it airtight in zip lock bags, and place them in the cupboard. Had mine for about 7 months now. No issue.

    mine is dry so i guess will keep the way as it is

    white translucent bag + gex package bag + red plastic bag
    should be safe enough haha

    During the course of the hobby ,most people do rescaping after a while , maybe create a slope of terrace . It waill come in handy.

    It was recommended to change partial of the soil for about every 6 months, the soil will lose it nutrients after been absorbed by plants. It's good to keep some as spare for replacement or when you need to setup 2nd tank as your shrimp populations grow in time.
