    Hi all,

Not quite sure the term to used .

Do any of you do a annual (or some interval) tank 'overhaul' ie., strip the tank bare, wash the tank, gravel and filter. Then start all over again?

    Any significant of doing this?

Overhaul should be a correct term for it. Removing every single thing and start over again.

I think if anybody is doing this is because they want to correct something they missed out during the first time the tank was setup e.g. base fert or undergravel heater etc. Maybe another reason is because it was hit by algae which is out of control.

For me it is not a good idea, cos the most difficult is the setting up. At this stage you have to be very patient and careful on wat to do. Also cycling tank is quite troublesome.

At times, some may want to rescape the tank. Some may want to change the look of the tank. This is ok cos cycling time is short or not necessary.

    juz my 2 cents worth

ahhhh.. its alot of work.. like what sherwin mentioned, 'only' if u wanna improve on yr current setup, otherwise, not wise to do a major overhaul... but if u talking abt a 2ft, I always do it []

I often redo my tank when I am trying out a new look.
I even change the substrate of my 4ft cos I want to try a new substrate colour

Tonite, I would redoing my 2ft, trying out a new look [].

Ryan, what fert are you looking at, root fert or liquid fert?

    Hi,

I'm considering doing a overhaul to my 2-footer.

Not quite pleased with the current setup. I had been thru' a few stages of re-aquascaping, moving plants and adding new one...even try adding a piece of bare driftwood... but can't quite able to create the illusion of a bigger than it is actually is. I think it is also the choice of plants I put into the tank. Well back to the drawing board

Here's my current one and only tank....

    Any pointers? []
