My Goby is still surviving inside the Pico

A bit of DIY to share... manage to cut a piece of plastic mesh as cover... now I can add a snail



The plastic mesh filters the light slightly unfortunately



Transfered a snail to help clean the tank surface and plants... it's almost impossible for me to clean the glass from the inside unless I can find a pico magnet cleaner

Hi Jervis, so you managed to catch the snail (Mas 'Snail'amat) that escaped previously?!? Btw, the goby looks very cute in your pico set-up... A noob question, will it outgrow the tank one day? [Btw, Goby don't need filter also can survive in tank is it?]

No this is not the same snail... that MAS snail perished

I have no prior experience with this Goby... if it does outgrow the tank... taking it out of the tank is as easy as putting it in... can always transfer it to another tank. So far so good I must say... I hope it will outgrow the tank one day

Happy to announce that the snail is doing a great job in cleaning the tank including the plants too... at last I can see clean Glosso leaves

Imagine having 3 or 4 of these side by side, each forming one part of a bigger image almost. One with more rocks, one with more hc, or glosso covering the bottom. Each with its own snail or other small fauna. That would be pretty funky to see.

Interesting idea there... but that will take a lot of time performing daily water change

Growth has been extremely slow (if any) but the plants are holding on well. The baby Cryptocoryne wendtii "green gecko" I added 3 weeks ago (behind the rock) is still healthy looking.

My Mini Bumble Bee Goby is still going strong... the snail too



I am so tempted to add 2 tiny shrimps to help clean the tank

Just for photoshoot? Not confident that they will survive well inside such small confinement. Furthermore they might jump out easily

I know what you can put inside.....baby platy fries! they will fit the "pico" theme just nice

Was inspired by ur project to set up a mini planted tank (pregnancy tank) inside my main 4 ft tank

Had finally found the 'tank' in your setup at Muji last weekend... So tempted to 'model' after you, so bought 1 and 2 more Acrylic tanks [5.5cm X 4.5cm X 8.5cm].. Had done up one using Gex (light green) sub & threw in a few strands of Java Moss [told you I'm bad at planting plants already...] & a piece of Ramshorn Snail into it...

Always carrying it into my bedroom at night to enjoy the aircon, wife also jealous... Will try to take some lousy shots & post in here...

Have yet to work on the other 2 tanks as thinking of suitable fauna to house in it...

Well that's what TOOLS are for... I am using the 270mm Pinsettes... very sensitive and precise Worth every penny!

Good for you! Actually that "3ft x 2ft x 2ft" acrylic tank (which costs $2000 ) has been out of stock for a few weeks. Were there yesterday and glad to find some new stocks in.

After running the tank for 3 week with literally no growth... finally decided to upgrade the lighting.

OLD LIGHTING


The previous Ikea single bulb lighting is good for the following:
1. Low power consumption
2. No algae (probably colour temperature not right)
3. Looks bright enough (but not much plant growth)

NEW LIGHTING (11W Cool White PL)

Been running this PL for 3 days... full blast

And here's what I discovered after 3 days

ALGAE!!!

But besides that... the tank is finally coming alive! For the first time ever I can see my Glossostigma bubbles (in a low tech tank)
