Hi, am a newbie in planted tanks & wish to go into DIY CO2 for my 2-feet soon... saw this package (http://www.mizuworld.com/index.php?t...Detail&pid=709) & was wondering if it can be used along with the DIY CO2 setup? [Actually, not too sure if this post is allowed in here... Moderator do let me know ok? Thanks!]

Just a question, how to use this set in my 2-feet tank set-up? Anyone can guide me along? Finally, is the price currently 'value for money' as I'm on a tight budget...

    Hi beetlejuice,
if you are going for this beautiful set at this price already, if i were you i would get a proper CO2 tank to come with it.

Reason being, i doubt the DIY co2 can self generate enough pressure to force the CO2 through the whole diffusion system and, what is worse when the DIY CO@ weakens after some time... you will face a big problem of tank water backflow into the tube.

Otherwise, do consider a CO2 ladder for diffusion via DIY, i have used it before.. quite effective too! (i used a Nutrafin ladder)

If you are serious into the planted tank hobby, do consider a proper CO2 cylinder to come along.. anyway it takes away lots of hassle to mix the DIY CO2 time and again. The constant supply of CO2 will bring much benefits to your plants as well!

    Cheers!

While a DIY CO2 system can generate enough pressure to work with our glassware set, it does not give a consistant supply in the long run and can be quite troublesome to work with.

A pressurized CO2 system definitely saves you more money and trouble in the long run. Set it up and it's ready to be used. If price is a major concern at the moment, you can get a simpler set (normal, single-guage regulator) and upgrade it later.

Imho, a single gauge regulator won't cut it. Go for the 2 gauge solenoid regulator. You won't regret it.
