    Hi ,

A KH test does not have a colour chart. Just count the number of drops from the time the water is blue until the time when the it just turns yellow, and that is the degree of KH. It does have to be a certain shade of yellow just when it turns yellow, double the amount of water if you want the degrees is 0.5, i.e. 1 drop = 0.5 degree.

If the solution is yellow at first drop, it could mean that there's no KH in your tank water. Time to boost up with baking soda or some seashells.

Try with water that has some baking soda in it. It is alkaline and the solution is blue at first drop.

I posted this some time back
    http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...1&highlight=kh

The only time i have a change in color is when im preparing for my dropchecker solution 4dkh, it will remain blue till after the 4-5 of KH drops and color will change back to yellow.

If you want to see for yourself, just drop 1 pinch of sodium bicarbonate into water, extract 5ml and test it.

can google the recipe online, its just a mixture of water+sodium bicarbonate. The kh test kits comes into play when deriving the drops required to turn your mixture to yellow with 4-5 drops.
