i know they're pets. But i'm just curious about whether they're edible. I've been wanting to use them as CaCO3 removers. But instead of throwing them away... you know.

they will be in the tank to help filter the water and be my loving pet to me
i am not sure the ones here can be eaten, as i have know the US ones are human food, hehehe! so grow to the size of a adult plam. once my clams are out of the qurratine tank i will post some picscheers

The "golden clams" im talking about Corbicula fluminea don't grow big. My search on the web seems to indicate tat it is farmed in taiwan.
the ones you said that you saw at selatar ? man! i gotta get my butt there!! anyway the ones i bought from SG didnt make itmaybe the jam and the oxygen in the bag not enought
must find a way to bring them in!!
They die pretty quickly and foul up the tank, as they need pretty dirty water to survive. Also they can be found in almost all the freshwater areas in Singapore, just whether you want to hunt for them, it is really dirty work.
To add to juggler's comment, you might try keeping them INSIDE the filter itself. Granted you won't be able to see them, but at least you'll know they're getting their food.
Saw some at C328 today.
