    yes, but some times imperfectly.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Adding some sea-salt to the water will aid in recovery. This helps fighting off infection. Not much tho.

    Good Luck

Actually, it depends. My threadfins stern fin did not grow back as it was too much damage. If it affect the structure of the fins, I dont think it will regrow.

Not all the time the broken fin/tail will heal.
I've once bought an oto, accidentally snapped the lower tail and it totally gone, left only the upper tail.

The lower tail never managed to grow and my oto looks like a shark instead. I think my oto must be very angry with me

    Hi

Your situation seems like my threadfins. The upper tail fin was nipped off and it never grow back. Well, we have to bear with it.

Melafix is reported to do wonders for regeneration, but I have no personal success with it.
Remember to provide extra aeration if you decide to use it.

    Cheers

The known medication wonder of melafix is over-rated, so to speak.
