    Hi Guys

Recently my bit tefe female had this disease. She look bloated and her gills can see very clearly like popping out. I try to put in melafix everyday and do some water change. May i know what disease is this and how long does it take to treat?

    Thanks

I think your bit female gotten internal bacteria and some parasite.
bloated stomach confirm is internal bacteria aka as dropsy
as for gill maybe water condition not good. like arowana will develop gill curl when the water condition is bad.
if not, she may have gill flukes.

    doublrace,
For internal bacterial you'll need pimafix.
    Melafix is for external bacterial.
For gill fluke, you got to get those commercially prepared anti-parasite
    medication.

If you notice internal bacteria in the early stages I'd recommend NLS Thera A. Don't think it works if the fish is already badly infected though.

.. MQ4 really so good in curing internal bacteria/parasite? Maybe I should go buy and give it a try also.. By the way.. Usually by adding medication to the tank will kill beneficial bacteria.. Will adding MQ4 (I am hoping for exception) kill the beneficial bacteria in the tank as well? Or you take out your sick fish and apply medication.. Please advise.. Thanks..

it will not kill your beneficial bacteria. when i administer the dosage my tank were all on sponge filter only. the super small type. however, the whole process take a few days of hardship because required you to do water change and add medication etc...
if it can save your prized fish, it is worthwhile.
imagine order a pair from oversea and losing it in a few day??

I guess what's important that people had found that MQ4 & MQ5 are effective against internal parasite on apisto.

For internal parasites, I'm using Interpet No.9 Anti Internal Bacteria. However, do stick to the recommended dosage stated. You can underdose and apply with more frequency, but never ever overdose. It will somehow cause death or stress to the ill fish.

My female apisto is not eating anything much and the poo is kind of thin stringy. Suspect of internal parasite. Wanted to dose MQ4 but there is a batch of fries together with it.

Anyone knows whether is it safe to use MQ4 with fries inside the tank?

It would be recommended that you remove the female apistogramma and treat it separately. Fries are much more sensitive towards medication.
