water hardness has nothing to with pH?
really must understand water
then fish keeping will be much much easier haha
Or understand the language of fish... Just kidding.
Well, but I guess for most people it does not matter really about the softness and hardness of the water if they are only keeping fish, and have no intentions for breeding. Correct me if I am wrong?
As for kH and pH relationship with regards to Co2ppm, think one can just max out Co2 (provide adequate surface movement to allow for gas exchange) and that should be alright.

things get complicated each time you know a bit more![]()
Base on all else being neutral i.e. substrate or elements that doesn't affect the parameters. KH is co-related to ph. If your kh is around 4, your ph should read about 6.5. From which hardness is how high/hard your kh is.
Ph refers to whether the fauna prefers acidic or alkaline like water parameters. Nature has created its own buffer/kh, therefore we haven't not heard of a ph crash in the wild. It is quite common when we establish our tanks, we're acting like God to set these parameters to recreate their natural ecosystem but via using chemicals or other elements, thus the confusion.![]()
