    Hi,

One of my e.bleheri is sprouting the new shoot all the way to the top of the tank.

So do i cut that shoot from the bottom where the root is or just cut the leave in between to repropagate them ?

the shoot will flower, branch off a couple more shoots, its time to cut, when u see the minature version of the parent plant and roots growing from it.. if u want to grow them emersed, then when the plantlets emerge, move the shoot out of the water, otherwise submerge in yr tank

thanks simon, so u mean when the miniature version come out, i will just cut the whole shoot n replant those with roots? rite? either submerse or emerse rite ?

i dun mind trying some emerse in the office hee.... then can give out some when it grows []

for a higher success rate, best to wait till the plantlets is bigger and with roots.. if u intend to plant them in yr tank, then no point growing them emersed (they still time to transform back to submerse)

thanks again. well, i have 3 stalks in 2ft now. so dun think can house anymore of them .... everynow and then have to trim the old leave so the new one can grow and it doesn't block off the light from other plant.

thats y toying with the idea of trying emerse and see how it comes out

nleong, you just wait till the plantlets emerge from amongst the flowers. There should be one or two plantlets at every flower node. Try to get the stalk to lie on the surface of the water, this will help the plantlets sprout roots. Once the plantlets has about an inch of roots you can trim it off by cutting the stalk on either side of the plantlet.

If you leave the plantlet alone it' will start sprouding another plantlet from the plantlet and so on..

thanks guys. this morning i saw the stalk or shoot have protrude out of the water and growing towards the brim of the tank, i think in few days, it will grow out of the tank..... then saw some leaves at some of the nodes of the stalk.... so thats the plantlet you guys have been talking about ?

but no roots yet, will wait and see. n , what does the flower looks like? didn't really see any....

think must be the fertiliser i put that result in this fast growth.

nleong, have patience, the plantlet appears after the flowering starts. The "leaves" you are noticing are probably just the bracts enclosing the flower buds. You mean the stalk is not even out of the water yet? Then it'll take some time more. Some E. species have very long stalks. The big red one in my tank has 6 ft stalk and basically hit the ceiling.

    btw, you have pm.
