Wow! Very nice... thin, dark and branchy! You already more or less arranged it nicely in your first pic. Maybe this can be a center island kinda layout with white sand surrounding the island. May not be that original but will suit your wood perfectly

    Dear Jervis,

I am thinking to make it island like scaping, and now looking at what kind of plant for growing. Here is my plant.

For foreground, I will mostly plant Echinodorus since it is easy to maintain, and also some Eriocaulon at the center foreground.

Around the wood, I will plant some Bolbitis, Anubias, Crytocorne.

On the wood, I will tie some Taiwan Moose, and most important, I will fit in some long leef Microsorium Pteropus (donno whether I put in the right name) I love this one.

The the backgroud, on the left site, I will plant Rotala macrandra, center will be Hygrophila balsamica, and right will be Vallisneria americana.

I still have some Echinodorus osiris, Echinodorus schlueteri & Echinodorus harbich and donno where to put them.

Anyway, hope you can give me some advise.

    Chin

    hi chinhl,

Your woods almost the same with mine. May be I'll share with u my tank photo, so you might have a lil bit idea on your landscape.

If you want to setup your tank in a proper steps like what Takeshi Amano did, you can buy the 2006 ADA catalogue. It's a very resourceful material to start up a new aquarium.

One piece of advice, try to dump in as many yamato shrimps as possible after you perform the nitrate cycle a week. Those shrimps will be very useful in countering the algae. If hair algae starts to come out, try to dump in about 3 Siamese Algae Eater s(SAE).

    Dear Cloud-Strife,

I am wondering what do you all mean by "nitrate cycle"? Does it mean by letting the water to cycle the tank with filter to grow germ?
