Grass type plants can aim for dwaft HG or like shadow recommended jap HG, if you are experienced in planted tank and have the right equipment, both HC/glosso are all good.

I think Echinodorus tenellus will have the same effect, but with thicker leaves.
what abt ricca or mini ricca?

that one need high maintenance![]()

Ricca and gloss all high maintainance, even HC somes proving to be difficult. HG ironically also difficult but check out illuna's thread on his tank, his HG growing well in a low tech.
In terms of difficulty, my opinion would be:
1. HC
2. Glosso
3. Riccia
4. HG (both types)
5. E. tenellus
with HC being the most difficult, Riccia being moderate and HG/E. tenellus both being equally easy but E. tenellus spreading faster

I think riccia is very easy but need to trim regularly.
E.tenellus is quite tall/big, may not be suitable for small tank foreground. By the way how big is your tank?
So do i! Riccia is about the only plant i managed to grow without any hassle.Got my 1st patch of riccia from puffer via a 15cmx3cm mesh and it went on to cover my tank completely! 55watts on a 2footer was more then sufficient for growing riccia,it boomed so much that i literally have phobia of the plant now!But you really do need to exercise caution when pruning, the tiny little bits left to drift will eventually attach itself and start growing.Bloody annoying.
the maintenance (troublesome trimming) and possible need to retie every couple of months is why i classified riccia as moderate![]()

Hi all,
Sorry, what does "HC" stands for?

Hemianthus callitrichoides.
i personally find jap HG very compact and curl when they grow, when the food goes down the fish has difficulty getting thru to look for the food.![]()

you may like to try moss. no need to tie just push into the soil alittle then when it grows it will just cover the floor as they do not float up. Unless your have very strong current.
you may like to let us know your tank spec lighting? temperature? Size of Tank?

Does Hemianthus callitrichoides take much trimming? In terms of how tall it grows.
I believe i've had it in the past and i struggled greatly in trying to get it to actually stay in the substrate. I was using expensive substrate to promote growth too, very nutritous. Never did get it to embed itself properly.
Any specific technique recommended xD Could do with suggestions.
Plus i thought riccia grew quite tall?
