    Hi Everyone,

I have some plants in a hi-tech 35L nano tank, that are showing some fuzz algae on the leaves (crypts, blyxa, rotala, pellia, downoi, HC)

How can i kill the algae off these plants so i can put them into my new 2ft tank?

    Bleach solution? pottassium permangenate?

I would love it if anyone has any ideas to kill the hair/fuzz algae, but keep my prized plants alive!

    Thanks very much,

    Craig

one word one product i consider essential to planted tanks.....Seachem Excel... apply directly on the alge two three drops on affected area or just squirt it in a turkey blaster.

There are many products out there, i use one called "eSHa PROTALON-707", no idea if its commonly available where you are though. If not, there are many such products available. Many claim to not harm plants, but always check with your LFS owner. This one i use is brilliant. Doesnt prevent algae, but it certainly got rid of it down to a manageable level inwhich from there i could implement prevention methods which have since irradicated the issue.

If that fails, theres always the option to remove as much as possible yourself. Then use good old Japonica shrimp to devour it I found that when i had a really bad case of a green slimy layer of algae on rocks, plants and glass an army of Japonica shrimp and a 2 week time scale cleared up the problem. They are amazing creatures!

otos will not eat hair/fuzz algae. Not sure about excel either. try H2O2

By the way, yo still need to fix your water parameter, otherwise it will come back.

Fuzz algae? Do you have a picture of it? If it's BBA-black brush algae, you can use S. Excel if it's not a type of vallis or moss.
