Jervis, my question is what kind of job do you do in that office of yours ??
Just so all the young ones know which field allows you to balance a ADA capable salary with enough free time to maintain fish tanks.![]()

hehe
think many of us will liekt o visit Jervis office.. :P
with all the nice setups...
I have bad news... the male Elizabethae died a week agoIt took me a few days to get over the aftershock and a few more days to figure out what could possibly went wrong
After much investigation... I suspect the following causes:
1) Too big a water change... around 50%. The fish died 1 day after my weekly water change.
2) pH crash as I performed too big a water change using DI water. The tank pH is around 6.5 and water that came out of my DI unit is around 4.5. With a 50% water change, that's 1.25 dip in pH within 15 min (time taken to fill up the tank).
3) Another possibility is the DI unit failed to remove 100% of the chlorine. I did not use any anti-chlorine prior to this incident.
Whatever the cause/s... it's really demoralizing to see a beautiful fish rotting in my tank... it's a sucky feeling![]()

You have a DI unit?! u have $$
yeah i know how you feel when such a beautiful and nice fish (more so if it had been your favourite fish and shared a bond with it) die for no apparent reason. Honestly last time i thought fish were stupid creatures because they die over the slightest problems or for no apparent reason(or so we think); i mean i don't die when i go to japan while its winter time there
cheer up Jervis
cheers,

If they are really stupid creatures, then maybe just maybe, fishkeeping isn't the correct hobby for you.

Crystal pro DI unit output is 4.5 in pH?

Anyway I think it's time for more pix...
Took the opportunity to do a slight scaping to the tank... created some small caves using thin stone slabs... can you see them?

Here's a closer look at the caves... that's my new male Apisto checking the caves out by the way
Marsilea hirsuta from my 2ft tank... planted a few days ago![]()
Introducing my new Apisto sp. blutkehl (wild)... I hope I will have better luck this time

The female is quite cute... tiny

WOW! what nice apisto!
i like the female! Gorgeous! with a tinge of blue.. classic![]()
I am surprised by her too... for the past 3 days she was black as charcoal... then after a hearty meal of frozen brine shrimps this morning... she suddenly decided to show some colour... at one time the entire underside was bright orange
She has good genes... will produce nice babies![]()

Nice new addition.
God will make a way, where there seems to be no way
