I see nothing wrong, so technically its all sound and should run smoothly.

Very much interested to see how this goes, please keep us updated.

The water level should be around the gravel height but not covering the plants.

I'm experimenting. There's a hill that's only wet but no water covering the HC, on the other end the water is covering the HC. Wished to know which is the best method.

tried growing them emmersed then submersed... downside is that the emmersed leaves die off and new fronds grow. this causes the old emmersed leaf to rot and add unwanted compost to the tank. best method i tried so far just involves a whole lot... and i mean a whole lot of PATIENTS... i dont like waiting so long myself but end result is the best...

just plant very small cuttings around the substrate about 1-2 inches apart. they will start to creep and then fill the foreground eventually... the HC lawn will be nice, short and dense. hold the HC down and then sprinkle the powder sand over. what ever that floats in the initial period just let it grow floating... after when you recover from your massive backache after planting the initial HC batch, replant the floating ones...

Pulled out my hc to replant into my new tank and found those planted for about a month had roots about 2-3 cm long into the substrait... they all came out as a mat.

    long story yah...?

    Bubberls...

thanks for the 'long' stroy man. I appreciate it very much though. It gives me the insight of what to do and what to expect in growing HC this way.

    I keep monitoring the growth.

    Rizal,
This would work, i have done this HG before and have read several bros here on their setup. It however takes up to 3-4 months before it starts to creep like wild fire. Just be patience.

heheh, so now i know your illumax 24w has been put to good use

I would personally remove the crypt parva and just have a HC lawn. I will also include all the hardscapes such as rocks, driftwood etc so there is no more disturbance of the soil and having to remove the runners.

Becareful of rising temperature though since hot air from light is trapped in your ziplock wrap.
