Well, have not really seen bright sand around and have checked with Midori on the availability of bright sand. Was told that it needed to be ordered. So I was thinking if I could use Lapis Sand in place of bright sand to recreate the similar effects that bright sand could do? The other substrate that I would be using is ADA Amazonia II. Anyone have any ideas or any recommendation?

Lapis Sand is not as fine as ADA Bright Sand.

I believed that someone mentioned using Europet Sand or Gen X sand as replacement.

    Cheers

But apart from that, can I use Lapis to create an empty space in the scape? Think of it as the river bed, the sand are not that fine anyway...

You are right, riverbed sand usually are not that fine, IMO Lapis looks fine.
