Java ferns should not melt. High lights will invite algae if other components like C02, NPK are not in correct proportions. Mine are under high lights > 2WPG. Growth is faster compared to lower WPG. Propagation via plantlets are faster too.

Jave fern can go without light too right? will it die if there the tank is not near the window and i didn't fix any light for the tank?
Plastic plants don't need light
Without light, the Java fern will hang on, but will eventually succumb. They need to photosynthesize too you know?
Yes, they grow faster with high light/CO2.
Melting depends on the variety. E.g. the var. philippines and var. red have the tendency to melt for whatever reasons.

java ferns only require low light. High light promotes growth.
So what may be causing the leaves to become transparent?
Be Happy.....ALWAYS...HA HA
what are your tank parameters like? with that, its easier to pinpoint the problem. 2 common factors are light or fertilizer regime.

Heat, lack of nutrients? And lack of CO2 if you do dose it?
these plants are able to tolerate quite a bit of heat... most prob the fishes wouldbefore the plants die
I thought if the light was too high Java fern leaves have black/brown patches appear on them. Atleast some of mine do under high lights.

Prof, some photo shots will help. Also list your ferts regime, water and tank parameters.
