i wanted to set up two tanks. it will be 2 feet tanks on 2 tier metal stand.

the fish shop at clementi say this is not suitable for HDB flats. she say the weight of two tanks on a 2 tier stand will be too much for the flooring. she say the floor won't be able to take the weight of two tanks stack up when fill with water and gravels.
so sad, so in the end get one tank on the metal stand only.

anyone with experience on this having 2 tier tanks in a HDB flat?

you are talking about standart 2ft tank right? 2ftx1ftx1ft? It should be ok, the weight should be much less than 4ft tank or bigger.

From what i read tongwk meant two tanks on top of each other, correct? That may pose a problem. If you did mean two tanks not tiered on top of the other then that should not be a problem.

Maybe there are some communication breakdown between you and auntie.

2 tier of 2ft tank should be very common and should not be a concern. Many people were actually having 2 tier of 4ft tank or 4ft tank with sump...

2 tier of 2 feet tanks is okay. When i was single, i have 3 sets of 3 tier 2 feet tanks in my bed room plus one 322 tank. No issue. currently, my living room is lined with one set of 422 with sump and another 2 set of 24 by 15 by 18. By the way, I live on the 19th floor and i am expecting another 422 coming later this year. They are all going to be in my living room.

Actually, as long as the tank is 4 ft and below or total weight of the tank + water + gravel + etc is not more then 600kg, HDB does not have any restrictions.

Tanks above 4ft and/or weight more then 600kg, have to write in with drawing and floor layout to get permit. I know cos I intend to have a 5 x 2.5 x 2.5 ft tank in my new flat and had written in for HDB's approval. They approved without much questioning but there are some restrictions. eg. weight of tank must be evenly distributed to the floor. i.e cabinet setup. cabinat must have 6 support columes, etc.

Mrs Toh seldom packs feeder fish... She is most of the time busy with supplier or answering questions from hobbyist like us. I believe she also have her meals late everyday. The plump lady packing the feeder fish is their worker.
