hi may i know how do u train them? I'm still a bit nervous about introducing live food to my tank. Once i even found dead ants inside the bag of live daphnia from one of the lfs.

i basically starve them.. if im not wrong.. they didn't eat anything for almost a week.. think they too hungry and ate the frozen daphina.
anyway, live daphina very easy to clean.. just put them in a very fine net(those that the small dahpina wont go through) and rinse them under tap water.

Actually, they will eat live and frozen food. Live tubifex/daphnia/BBS and frozen bloodworm are generally taken readily, more so than frozen daphnia/BS.

If you can feed frozen daphnia, is there a problem feeding frozen bloodworm? I mean, both are frozen food... hmm...

If they are newly introduced to your tank, then it may take some time for them to feel comfortable before taking to frozen food. Live food on the other hand will rarely be rejected.

Of course there are exceptions, i.e. the stubborn, or unhealthy ones. And please do understand that starving them may not always work, if you decide on proceeding with this path.

Eventually, it is up to us, being responsible aquarists, to fit into the requirements and needs of our pets, instead of expecting them to fit into our requirements, yeah?

magic4lifez, it isn't impossible, if the tank is big enough and there are plenty of hiding places.

EvolutionZ, frozen bloodworm and frozen daphnia are both frozen food right? So if you could feed them frozen daphnia, you could have fed them frozen bloodworm what.

You probably forgot this thread, http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ighlight=dario

Basically, they are shy, "slow" fishes and may not rush to food when you are feeding them. So when keeping them with other fish, make sure you drop food right around their area or in front of them, as other fishes may outcompete them for food, easily...

They are also not really suitable with aggressive or boisterous fishes, unless the tank size is really really large enough and there are plenty of hiding places. And when your Apistogramma spawns, it is very probable that D. dario will not stand a chance of surviving.
